Jaishankar met the President of Nepal

 External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met courtesy of Nepal's President Vidya Devi Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas here on Thursday.  Dr. Jaishankar is currently on a visit to Nepal to co-chair the fifth meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Commission.



 The Foreign Minister of Nepal Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and Dr. Jaishankar co-chaired the meeting.  The two leaders also took stock of the entire expansion of India-Nepal bilateral relations.



 Dr. Jaishankar will also provide a check of Rs 80.71 crore on behalf of the Central Government to Gyawali, as the Government of India has promised Rs 500 million for the improvement of roads in the Terai areas of Nepal.  Four of the projects under construction are ready for inauguration.

 The Nepal-India Joint Commission was established in June 1987.  Its meetings are held alternately in Nepal and India.  The last meeting of the Joint Commission was held in New Delhi in October 2016.
